Generational Fog: Breaking Patterns, Healing Roots

🧬 Generational Fog (a.k.a. “My family’s just like this”)

Let’s talk about the patrones we were born into — the ones nobody explained, but we somehow followed anyway.

Control. People-pleasing. Silence. Sometimes it’s not even just ours. These roles run in families. 🧃

About 30 years ago, I started waking up to the Puerto Rican intensity I was raised in — like how arroz con habichuelas with pork or chicken wasn’t just food. It was law. 🍚🍗

And then I did the unthinkable. I went full-blown Vegan. And gluten-free. 🌱✨
🇵🇷 That’s when they really lost it. Split wigs everywhere. “But... how are you gonna get your proteína?”
They thought I’d joined a cult. I hadn’t. I just left the kitchen script.

And then I found Buddhism. Not instead of Christianity — just alongside it. I was curious. I was changing. 🧘🏽‍♀️

My family didn’t take it well. The Buddha over Jesús? All hell broke loose. But so did I. And I haven’t looked back.

We don’t need to fight our ancestry to change our lives. But once we start seeing the patterns, we don’t have to repeat them either. 🌱

We weren’t born with shame. It was handed to us.
We didn’t invent people-pleasing. It was modeled.
We can hold that truth — and still soften. 🫶

🪞 Integration > Information

Waking up can feel exciting — but also a little loco. We want to know everything. We want to feel better — now.

Read the books. Do the meditations. Fix it all by Thursday. 🌀

But healing doesn’t work like that. Real change happens at the speed of seguridad, not panic. 🐢💨

Little by little, I’ve learned to move slower — even when my sangre Boricua wants results yesterday. Spiritual growth isn’t Amazon Prime. It doesn’t come overnight — it lands when it’s ready.

So I became something new: an Acceptologist. A quiet skill. Not about fixing — just noticing and letting things land. 🌬️

We don’t need to become superhuman. We don’t need to transcender our feelings. We just need to feel safe enough to be here.

We shut down sometimes. We feel numb. We light up. We come back. We take breaks. We forget. We remember. That’s part of it. 💫

If you’re in a moment where you’re not sure what’s next — you’re not behind.
If you’re feeling nothing after feeling too much — you’re not broken.
If you’ve stopped trying to impress people — you’re probably closer to peace than you think.

We’re integrating.
And that’s the most sacred pace there is. 🥣
